Bichectomy Facial Thinning Surgery

Bichectomy Aesthetic Surgery | Medlook Polyclinic

Bichectomy is a procedure in the field of aesthetic surgery and aims to have a thinner facial line with more prominent cheekbones. This operation is a cheek surgery performed to improve the appearance of the face, making it appear longer and thinner.

What is a Bichectomy?

With the developments in the field of aesthetic surgery, individuals who care about their physical appearance can now make the changes they wish. Bichectomy, one of these operations, is a preferred procedure for a thinner and more prominent facial line. Bichectomy is also commonly known as cheek surgery and allows the cheekbones to become more prominent.

Who Can Have a Bichectomy?

Bichectomy is a suitable operation for individuals over the age of 18 who are generally of normal weight and have a round facial structure. However, this procedure is not recommended for people with overweight or obesity problems and people over the age of 45. The reason for this is that the fat bags called Bichat decrease over time and may cause signs of premature aging.

How is a Bichectomy Operation Performed?

Bichectomy is an operation performed under local anesthesia. The operation is performed through a small incision inside the cheeks, next to the fat bags. After making the incision, the surgeon removes the bichat fat bags and sutures the wound. This procedure is performed on both cheeks and usually takes 30-45 minutes. Patients can be discharged the same day after the operation.

Before and After Bichectomy

In preparation for the bichectomy operation, it is important for patients to stop smoking and drinking alcohol one week before the operation. There are some important points that patients should pay attention to before and after the operation. For example, during the first three days after the operation, it is recommended to consume soft foods and drink cold drinks. Avoiding sun exposure is another important point.

After Bichectomy Surgery

After the operation, the healing process usually takes 14 days. It is recommended to consume soft foods and cold drinks for the first three days, as well as protection from the sun. Swelling and inflammation in the facial area usually disappear within 3 to 6 months.
