ToggleIstanbul Nisantasi Medlook Polyclinic we don't sell dreams to our patients. Yes, you can go back to work immediately, but you should know what will happen to your face. In this guide, we give you the change you will experience from the first hours to the first week after the procedure, how to manage edema and the answer to the question “I have a meeting the next day, can I go?”.
The First 24 Hours: Critical Period
When you leave the clinic, your face is tense and slightly numb (anesthetic cream effect). Here is what you need to do on the first day:
- Cold Application: İlk 4 saat boyunca, saat başı 10-15 dakika buz kompresi yapmak hayat kurtarıcıdır. Buzu direkt cilde değil, bir havluya sararak uygulayın. Bu, ödemi %70 oranında azaltır.
- Stand Up Straight Take care not to bend or stand up or tie your shoes for the first 4 hours. It is important to stand upright against gravity for the fillings to set in place.
- Lying on your back: On the first night, we recommend the position we call “Princess/Prince Sleep”, lying on your back with a double pillow. Sleeping face down can crush the fillings and cause asymmetry.
Back to Social Life: When?
Liquid facelift does not interrupt social life, but there are some rules.
| Activity | Timing | Medlook Note |
|---|---|---|
| Return to Work | IMMEDIATELY | You can work in an office environment. There may be mild redness. |
| Makeup | THE NEXT DAY | Do not apply foundation to the skin until the pinholes are closed (24 hours). |
| Sport (Pilates/Running) | 3 DAYS LATER | Sweating and increased blood pressure trigger edema. |
| Hairdresser/Skin Care | 2 WEEKS LATER | Procedures where pressure is applied to the face may shift the filling. |
Side Effects: Normal or Abnormal?
As with any needle procedure, you may experience some temporary side effects. Do not worry, these are part of the healing process.
- Edema (swelling): There may be slight swelling especially under the eyes and cheekbones for the first 2 days. It goes down on the 3rd day.
- Bruise If the needle hits the vein, tiny bruises may occur. It can be hidden with concealer and passes in 3-5 days.
- Sensitivity: It is very normal to feel a pain when you touch your face, as if you “hit something”. It may last 1 week.
- Asymmetry One side may look more swollen in the first week. This does not indicate that the filling was done incorrectly, it shows that the edema is unbalanced. You should wait 2 weeks.
List of Prohibitions: Don't Do These!
In order not to risk your liquid facelift result, stay away from the following for the first 1 week:
- Hot Bath/Sauna: Dilates blood vessels, increases edema.
- Alcohol: It dilutes the blood, increasing the risk of bruising.
- Massage Do not massage or rub your face hard. We placed the filler, do not move it.
- Dental Treatment: Procedures that require you to open your mouth a lot (root canal treatment, etc.) may strain the jaw fillings. Postpone for 2 weeks.
Long Term Care: Protecting the Investment
Once the healing is complete (week 2), you can enjoy the result. But to increase the permanence:
- Moisturizing Hyaluronic acid fillers love water. Drinking plenty of water and using moisturizer makes the filler shine.
- Sun Protection: UV rays do not melt the filler, but they age the skin. Do not neglect your SPF 50+ cream.
