Hair and eyebrow transplantation is the process of transplanting healthy follicles in the nape of the neck (between the two ears), which are genetically coded not to fall out, into the needed gaps with microsurgical methods. However, these two procedures differ from each other in terms of application technique and aesthetic expectations.

Modern Technologies Used: FUE, Sapphire and DHI
There is no “one right method” in hair and eyebrow transplantation; there is the “most appropriate method” determined according to the needs of the individual. Three main techniques are successfully applied within Medlook.
1. FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)
This method is based on the principle of harvesting individual roots from the donor area with the help of micromotors. It does not require stitches and leaves no scars. It is the first stage of both hair and eyebrow transplantation.
2. Sapphire FUE (Perfect Frequency)
Sapphire crystal tips, a precious metal, are used instead of metal tips in the channel opening phase of hair transplantation. Sapphire tips cause minimal damage to the skin, reduce bleeding to the point of stopping and reduce the healing time to 3-4 days. Ideal for more frequent and intensive hair transplantation.
3. DHI (Choi Pen - Pen Technique)
The Gold Standard Especially for Eyebrow Transplantation: It is a technique in which root canal opening and root placement are performed at the same time. Thanks to special pens called Choi, the desired direction and angle (degree) can be given to the roots very precisely.
Why is it important? While hair usually grows out of the skin at a 45-degree angle, eyebrows grow much more parallel to the skin (about 10-15 degrees). The DHI technique prevents the eyebrows from growing “upright” and provides a completely natural, slanted appearance. In addition, DHI is the most suitable method for those who want an unshaven procedure in hair transplantation.
Step-by-Step Operation Process
The process carried out by Dr. Handan Yavuz and our expert team is completed in 5 stages, prioritizing your comfort and safety.
- Consultation and Design (Golden Ratio): Your facial features, muscle structure and aesthetic expectations are evaluated. The most suitable “curve” and “thickness” for your face are determined with special drawing pens for eyebrow transplantation. The design is not started until you say “OK, that's it!”.
- Preparation and Anesthesia: The area to be treated is sterilized. With needle-free, pressurized anesthesia devices, pain sensation is minimized and local anesthesia is provided.
- Collection of Roots (Graft Collection): For eyebrow transplantation, fine hair follicles at the bottom of the neck, which are most similar in structure to eyebrow hair, are selected. For hair transplantation, the strongest and multiple roots are collected.
- Channel Opening and Planting: With the specified technique (Sapphire or DHI), the roots are placed in the natural direction of origin. This stage in eyebrow transplantation is the most critical artistic stage that determines the naturalness of the result.
- Dressing and Discharge: The donor area is dressed after the procedure. You can return to your social life the next day.

Things to Know Before and After the Operation
Before Processing
- Stop blood thinners such as aspirin (with doctor's approval) 1 week before the operation.
- Smoking and alcohol should be stopped at least 3 days in advance as they delay the healing process and impair root nutrition.
- On the day of the operation, choose comfortable, zippered or buttoned clothes; no friction when passing over your head.
After the procedure and the healing process
- The First 24 Hours: Never touch the transplanted area, do not let it touch water.
- Sleep Position: For the first 3 nights, you should sleep on your back at a 45 degree angle (double pillow) to prevent edema and protect the roots.
- Washing: The first washing is done 24-48 hours after the operation by our specialists in our clinic and you will be taught how to do it.
- Shock Spill: Approximately 2-3 weeks after hair and eyebrow transplantation, the transplanted hairs may break and fall out. This is the “shock shedding” phase and is completely normal. The roots are under the skin.
- Conclusion: Eyebrows start to grow from the 3rd month and take their final form in 6-8 months. Hair becomes prominent from the 4th month and reaches full density by the 12th month.
